The Challenge

A working post office is one of the most demanding interior environments a painting contractor can take on. Mail carts, hand trucks, sorting equipment, and constant foot traffic put walls, corners, and doors under daily abuse — and a public-facing lobby still has to look clean and professional through all of it. A single-product paint job doesn’t hold up here. The right answer is specifying the correct coating for each surface and traffic level.

The Coating System

We built the specification around three Sherwin-Williams products, each matched to the surface and wear it had to handle:

• Walls Sherwin-Williams Cashmere An ultra-smooth, high-hiding interior acrylic latex that lays down a silky, professional finish — and stays scrubbable for easy cleaning in a public space.
• High-Traffic Zones Sherwin-Williams Scuff Tuff A waterbased enamel engineered to resist scuffs, scratches, and burnishing — even after repeated washing — so corridors and counter areas keep their finish under heavy use.
• Doors Sherwin-Williams Forté A urethanized acrylic that bonds directly to metal with exceptional adhesion and durability, with a fast return to service that minimizes downtime in an operating facility.

The Result

A sharp, uniform finish throughout the facility — and, more importantly, one engineered to stay sharp under the traffic a postal facility sees every single day. Work was sequenced to keep disruption to operations minimal. That’s the difference between a paint job that looks good on day one and one that still looks good years later: the right product on every surface, applied right the first time.
